John E. Otto, CLU, LUTCF, President, entered the insurance business in 1977 as a group representative for The Travelers Insurance Company after graduation from the University of North Texas with a BBA and a major in Insurance. He arrived in Corpus Christi in December 1977, calling on agents in the South Texas area. Entering the agency side of the insurance business in 1981, John formed the Whitney-Vaky Life Department in April 1985 and purchased the department in January 1995. John earned his Charter Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1985 and his Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow (LUTCF) in 1991. Since 1977, John has specialized in the Employee Benefit field of insurance. John is a past President of the Corpus Christi Association of Life Underwriters, past President of the local chapter of the American Society of Financial Services professionals and has moderated the business course for LUTC on three separate occasions. He is a past Regional Vice Chair of LUPAC, the political action committee of the Texas Life Underwriters Association. He is currently a member of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.

| Nidia Hafer, Benefits Consultant, began her insurance career in 1991 in Miami, Florida as a Group Administrative Assistant in the Employee Benefits department for Seitlin & Company. Nidia joined The Arvak Insurance Group, Inc. in April 1995 and soon after obtained her insurance license. After 13 years as Account Manager for The Arvak Insurance Group, Nidia has moved into sales as a Benefits Consultant. She brings her knowledge and experience of the industry to assist employers in making the best choice for their employee benefits. Nidia served as Secretary on 2003-2004 Board of Directors, Coastal Bend Association of Health Underwriters and continues to be a current member of the association. She is also fluent in Spanish. |

Angela Jackson, Office Manager, joined The Arvak Insurance Group in August 2006 as a part time bookkeeper. As well as owning her own business, she has many years of experience in sales, administration, bookkeeping and management. Angela has excellent team building, team leadership and interpersonal skills. She was promoted to Office Manager in August 2007. Angela assists the President of the company handling all accounting and related administrative functions.

Theresa McCarty, Account Manager joined The Arvak Insurance Group, Inc. in November 1999 as an Administrative Assistant. With her many years of experience in retail sales, accounts payable and bookkeeping, Terry moved into an Account Manager position. Terry’s primary duties include being a liaison between our clients and the insurance carriers. She assists our clients with inquires, claim disputes, billing issues, employee enrollments and general servicing issues.

April Karg, Account Manager, joined The Arvak Insurance Group, Inc. in January 2008. Having previously worked in property and casualty insurance, April made the switch to group benefits a year ago. She brings to us a wealth of experience in enrollments and additional lines of insurance coverage and is eager to help expand our growing business. As Account Manager, April is a liaison between our clients and the insurance carriers. She assists our clients with inquiries, claim disputes, billing issues, employee enrollments and customer service.

Sarah Chaffin, Sales Assistant, began her insurance career in 2004 in Birmingham, Alabama as an administrative assistant for Lloyd Wilson & Associates, LLC. Sarah joined the Arvak Insurance Group, Inc. in March 2006 as an administrative assistant and, soon after, obtained her insurance license in July. Sarah’s primary responsibilities include requesting proposals from insurance carriers and preparing cost benefit comparisons and presentations. Sarah also enjoys spending her free time serving the community and her church.

Candice Parker, Receptionist and Administrative Assistant to John deMontel, joined The Arvak Insurance Group Inc. in July of 2007. Although new to the industry, Candice has a diverse Senior Level Administrative Assistant background. She most recently took her education further by obtaining her insurance license. She is liaison between clients, carriers, and agents by servicing accounts with set-up, inquiries, and policy changes.
